Professional, Experienced Instruction

CATCHING, HITTING, PITCHING, THROWING & FIELDING INSTRUCTION

Whether you're just getting started or working to take your game to the next level, my lessons are built on decades of coaching and playing experience. With a strong foundation in player development, my instruction is rooted in fundamentals, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of the game.

My personalized instruction is unique and one that builds confidence, sharpens skills, and produces real results.

“STAY BACK!”…“LET THE BALL TRAVEL!”

We’ve all heard these cues in the cages and on the field—but what do they actually mean, and how do players apply them while still driving the ball with authority to all fields? In 2018, while coaching at the University of Cincinnati, I had the opportunity to learn from some of the top hitting instructors in the country. Through that experience, I refined my teaching approach and elevated my understanding of the swing. Now, that same knowledge can be passed on to you—helping hitters develop a shorter, more efficient swing without sacrificing the ability to drive the ball with power.

While mechanics are a key part of my instruction, I focus on developing the complete hitter—one with sound timing, a solid approach, and an efficient, powerful swing. There’s no one-size-fits-all method here. Each swing is built around the individual player and tailored to their unique strengths, body type, and athletic ability. Discover the difference personalized instruction can make—and unlock the hitter you’re meant to be.

“DON’T WAIT!”

After just the first session, most hitters can feel the difference between the right movements and the wrong ones. But building a new swing takes time, patience, and consistent practice. Without work between sessions, it can take up to a year to fully engrain a new swing pattern into muscle memory. However, with regular weekly practice and a consistent hitting session each week, most players begin to internalize the mechanics and feel the improvement around the 18–22 session mark. As I like to say (borrowed from someone smarter than me): "We’re not eating at McDonald’s—this is Jeff Ruby’s. It takes time, but it’s worth the wait." Therefore, considering the start of the season around March 1 - Weekly private instruction packages are recommended to start Oct 1 to Nov 1 for new clients.
