Pitchers and Catchers Camp

Registration 6:00-6:30 pm
Camp 6:30-8:30 pm

This camp is an opportunity for pitchers and catchers to work on skill development. Sign up for camp by emailing Assistant Coach, Tony Maccani at Baseball@uc.eduwith the subject “Pitchers and Catchers.” Registration will be completed before camp.

Pitchers will work with Eric Surkamp, former major league pitcher, learning how to pitch - sequencing pitches, holding runners and fielding their position. Eric has 5 years of big league experience with teams in the NL and AL, including the Giants, White Sox, Dodgers and A’s – including a World Series ring with the SF Giants. This is an opportunity for HS pitchers to develop a plan for the off-season to be ready to compete in the spring.

Catchers will work with me, Tony Maccani, former professional catcher with the NY Mets. Catchers will work on all aspects of the game, including receiving, blocking and throwing as well as fielding bunts and calling the game. The workout will include the same drills done by the University of Cincinnati catchers. Instruction will also focus on throwing to the bases, including pop-times and velo. Data collected will be shared with the players and feedback will be provided.
